Ethiopian Heritage Authority





The Ethiopian Heritage Authority is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Ethiopia's cultural and historical heritage. Along with supporting the National Museum of Ethiopia, our organization serves as a critical institution within Ethiopia both for the purpose of supporting tourism as well as science and cultural development at large. Some key areas of support include:

Registering Revised Artifacts



Ethiopia is the first African country in registering revised artifacts by UNESCO. At the 45th World Heritage Conference, it became the first in Africa following the registration of Bale Mountains National Park and Gedeo Cultural Landscape by UNESCO. Ethiopia has registered 11 artifacts with the United Nations Education, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and after Ethiopia, South Africa 10, Tunisia and Morocco 9 each. Below is a list of historical artifacts that Ethiopia has registered by UNESCO so far:



  1. Lalibela's Wuker Abiyate churches. .. .. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1978 in Amhara region in Northern Wollo. .. At 645 km. .. Found in a distance.
  2. Yemen mountains national park. ኤ. .. It was registered as a world heritage in 1978 in Amhara region North Ander from Addis Ababa at 849 km. ሜ. Found in a distance.
  3. Fasil's compound and other statues of Gondar. ኤ. አ. 1979 World Heritage Site in Amhara region, Ander city, 748 km from Addis Ababa. ሜ. Found in a distance.
  4. Statues of Axum, BC. .. .. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1987. From Addis Ababa, Tigray Region at 1.880 km. .. Found in a distance.
  5. Lower Awash Valley E. ኤ. .. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1987. From Addis Ababa to 577 km. Mae is in the distance.


6. Aya's correct stone. ኤ. አ. Central Ethiopia Region which was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1980 from Addis Ababa at 86 km. ሜ. Found in a distance.

7. Archaeological site of Lower Omo Valley. .. .. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1980, in the southern region of Ethiopia 1000 km from Addis Ababa. Mae is in the distance.

8. The ancient city of Harar Jegol ኤ. .. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in Harari region 525 km from Addis Ababa. ሜ. Found in a distance.

9. Landscape of Konso E. ኤ. .. It was registered as a world heritage in 2 ስ11 and in southern Ethiopia region from Addis Ababa at 595 km. ሜ. Found in a distance.

10. The cultural landscape of Gedeo September 07/2016 E. 324 km from Addis Ababa in Gedio zone of southern Ethiopia. Mae is in the distance.

11. Bale Mountains National Park September 06/2016 E. M in Oromia region from Addis Ababa in 400 km. Mae is in the distance.
