Our Research

The National Museum of Ethiopia serves as a powerhouse for research on everything from human evolution to ecology to political affairs. Learn more about the work we're doing.

Explore Our Current Research Areas

The National Museum of Ethiopia grew out of the Institute of Archaeology, which was founded in 1958 by a group of French archeologists to promote and facilitate the archaeological research mission in the north. As such, the National Museum conducts ongoing research through the institute alongside Addis Ababa University's graduate school.
